We have been dreaming about this for years, so we've had a lot of time to study the theory. Topography has become our main subject with weather prediction as a second. The last thing we want is to get into a hurricane season or a heat wave, so some planning is necessary.
Eventhough we have a global route, we do not want to get stuck in a plan, and so we'll only put a dot on the map after we've been there...
We would like to tell you what this global route contains: we've started in Cape Town, South Africa and slowly move through Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia towards Tanzania. Then we cross the sea to the Seychelles, Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius and fly to Malaysia. We'll slowly descend through Indonesia towards Australia and New Zealand.
After that we fly to South America where we will first go to the southernmost point and from there through the different countries of South America, Central America, through the East of the United States to Canada, then down again along the West side of the US. With a stopover of a week or two in Hawaii we fly to the mainland of Asia where we will stay until we run out of money... haha!
We have a lot of countries on our wishlist, but the last thing we want is to speedtravel and 'tick off as many countries as possible'.
Of course, there are transit countries where we may only stay a few days or a week and for other countries we will take more time to explore them well.
For each country, we will see how long we want to stay and depending on the budget, we will determine where we will go or won't go.
Perhaps we eventually visit only ten countries in total. Maybe we're done with traveling after half a year. No idea... We'll just go with the flow and see where we'll end up.
Feeling that freedom is fantastic!
All in all this will be the biggest adventure or our lives, a huge discovery of the world and ourselves.
We expect to come home again after one and a half to two years healthy, happy and satisfied.
